As you go through life, you’ve probably noticed big differences in the way people think, the way they behave, or the way they process emotions. Based on your own experiences alone, it’s not a stretch to realize that no two brains are exactly alike — far from it.
So, when we discuss issues like mental health — 1 in 5 adults in the United States are living with mental illness — it should also come as no surprise that the best solutions are those that are tailored to a person’s precise brain activity.
As our name, Braincare Performance Center - Cardiff, suggests, our team specializes in brain health and we understand better than most that each brain is different. So, when we approach any mental health issue, we try to be as specific as possible.
While the foundation of our work is magnetic e-resonance therapy (MeRT), our success with these treatments starts with the initial EEG Brainwave Recording.
When you have a mental health issue such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), just to name a few of the more common, it likely means that neural activity in your brain is malfunctioning.
Since your brain is a complex organ, to say the least, we want to first identify the specific areas that aren’t functioning well. To do this, we turn to a Brainwave Recording, which is an electroencephalogram (EEG) that measures your brain wave activity.
With an EEG, we can look for abnormalities in the five types of brain waves, which we list here, including their characteristics:
It takes us just 30 minutes or to collect the data that we need through the EEG, which will then inform us as to how to best proceed to improve your brain’s electrical activity. Among other things, we look for bursts of activity in your brain, nonreactive or dormant areas, responses to stimuli, and more.
And the best part? An EEG is completely noninvasive. We just place some electrodes on your head that capture the electrical and brain wave activity.
After one of our brain health experts combs through and analyzes the data we collect during your Brainwave Recording, we come up with a plan moving forward.
Using MeRT, we target areas in your brain that we identify as needing a boost in neural activity and we provide that boost through magnetic impulses.
As you progress through your MeRT treatments, we will likely turn to brain mapping throughout to check on our progress and to make any tweaks necessary.
Absent a one-size-fits-all solution for mental health, we feel that Brainwave Recording and MeRT is the next best thing since we’re able to customize treatment plans to each patient's unique brain activity.
Think of it this way: Your brain is what makes your personality, so you want personalized solutions for brain health. And that solution comes with Brainwave Recording and MeRT.
